The International Society for
Research in Human Milk and Lactation

News: New webcasts from EB 2008

The Society is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the promotion of excellence in research and the dissemination of research findings in the field of human milk and lactation. These objectives are met through:

  • a biennial international meeting and annual symposia at The Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology and at gatherings of the "Milk Club" at annual meetings of The Society for Pediatric Research;
  • a listserver for communication of information among all members;
  • established liaisons with government agencies, public health authorities, industry, and other organizations interested in human lactation.

Full membership is open to investigators who have a doctoral degree or equivalent experience, and at least two publications in peer-reviewed journals in the field of human milk or lactation.

Associate membership is open to masters- and doctoral-level graduate students and postdoctoral fellows who are specializing in lactation or human milk research.

Applications must include a letter of recommendation from a member of the Society, the applicant's curriculum vitae, and a copy of a representative publication; they should be sent to the Secretary/Treasurer electronically if possible. New members approved by the Executive Committee will be notified of acceptance within one month. Annual dues are US $75 for full members and US $30 for associate members. Members receive all notices sent through the ISRHML listserver and are eligible for reduced registration fees at the international biennial meetings.
